Oil Burner Mis-Fires
Oil burner misfires can create heavy black smoke and a dangerous carbon monoxide environment.

If you have smoke in your basement (where most oil burners are located) call 911 immediately. If you can do so safely, shut down the burner using the remote emergency shut off switch (usually found at the top of the basement stairs).

Periodic maintenance, per manufacturer’s recommendation, can prevent oil burner misfires.

Contact your oil burner manufacturer or service company for more information.
