Ambulance Auxiliary

Ambulance Auxiliary

The MVFD Ambulance is a core component of the fire department serving all residents of the town. MVFD operates 2 BLS (Basic Life Support) units with supplemented with ALS (Paramedic) service from Campion Ambulance and/or AMR. The ambulances are operated by fire fighters certified as EMTs and by the Ambulance Auxiliary. MVFD answers roughly 1000 EMS calls annually, that is 2 to 3 calls a day.

The MVFD Ambulance Auxiliary was formed to allow Emergency Medical Technicians to join the department without requiring the training and certification rigors of a fire fighter. Current EMTs may apply to the Auxiliary provided they are available at least for one 8 hour shift each month. Residency in the town is not required but non-residents are required to be in town during their shifts.
